Case Study

Post-Launch Utilization Management & Payer Evidence Strategy

Quick Facts

3 Payer types

3 Evidence types

3 Stages of the product lifecycle

Objective

Leverage primary research with different payor stakeholders to understand the impact post-launch of lowering the utilization management restrictions that are expected at launch.

Approach

  • Conduct a collaborative working session to compile potential elements of post-launch evidence that should be evaluated in primary research
  • Conduct US payor research with formulary decision makers at PBMs, MCO, and IDNs to pressure test expected UM at launch and gather perspectives on any potential changes that could be driven by significant clinical, economic, or humanistic post-launch evidence
  • Synthesize findings to understand what elements of the evidence package are most likely to impact UM and how different payor types react to manufacturer-provided post-launch evidence

Results

Client was able to prioritize evidence generation efforts on the elements that are most likely to drive changes to utilization management and start to develop payor archetypes that can be used to develop tailored engagement strategies
